Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Tech
Location: San Marcos, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day
Shift Details: Must stay until all cases are completed for the day

Job Summary
Provides direct and indirect support to GI patients under nurse supervision. Performs tasks to ensure efficient functioning of the GI/endoscopy room and quality patient care. Responsibilities include preparation, maintenance, cleaning of equipment, and assisting with invasive endoscopic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support physicians and registered nurses during procedures.
- Verify equipment functionality and perform safety checks.
- Maintain and prepare endoscopic equipment; manage broken scopes for repair.
- Collect and deliver specimens while maintaining sterile field.
- Assist with patient monitoring setup.
- Conduct in-service training on equipment and instruments.
- Reprocess endoscopy scopes following ANSI/AAMI standards, including:
- Leak testing, cleaning, inspecting, disinfecting, sterilizing, packaging, and storage.
- Identification and disposal of single-use items.
- Decontamination procedures and monitoring effectiveness.
- Operation of cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
- Compliance with infection prevention, OSHA standards, and workplace safety related to chemical and biological hazards.
- Use of PPE, SDS, and chemical spill kits.
- Quality control monitoring and documentation.
- Visual inspection of scopes using magnification and borescope.
- Removal and repair process for damaged scopes.
- Sterilize and prepare rooms and equipment before and after procedures.
- Understand patient anatomy and abnormalities affecting procedures.
- Recognize and respond to emergent situations during procedures.
- Assist with therapeutic interventions such as balloon dilations, polypectomy, sphincterotomy, stent placement, and gastrostomy tube placement.
- Manage special-order supply inventory and ensure room readiness for next day.
- Complete annual and procedure-specific competencies independently.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to departmental policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- SGNA (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) certification.

- Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Classification: Category 1 (Occupational exposure).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment/post-offer health screening and annual screenings thereafter.
