Registered Nurse (LTC/SNF)

Location: Canistota, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a geriatric psychiatric long-term care/skilled nursing facility.
• Patient population primarily elderly with dementia and behavioral health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia.
• Behavioral program in place; many patients are stable on medication.
• Facility has 55 beds.

Schedule & Shifts

• 12-hour block scheduling.
• Day shift: approximately 1 nurse to 23 patients; overnight shift: approximately 1 nurse to 45 patients.
• Med aide support from 6 AM to 10 AM; 1 nurse from 10 PM to 6 AM.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts required if they fall within your scheduled block.
• Orientation includes training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts.

Documentation & Systems

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: PCC.
• Skilled charting and COVID charting primarily done on day shift.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience within the last year
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Notes

• No on-call or call-back responsibilities.
• Backouts or quits with less than 14 days' notice incur a fee.
• Local candidates within 80 miles preferred.
• Typical day shift hours: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
• Weekend rotation: every 3rd weekend and every other holiday.
