ICU Registered Nurse Travel Assignment

Location: Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU RN for a travel assignment in a Central Nebraska hospital. Immediate start available.

Unit Details

• ICU with 10 beds (average daily census: 5+)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (lower acuity)
• Patient types include: Open heart surgery, CHF, COPD, overdose, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, some neuro cases (no ICP monitoring yet), Telemetry Stroke program
• Adults and patients under 8 years admitted to ICU; pediatric patients over 8 years typically in PCU or Med Surg unless ICU care required
• Scrub colors: Navy Blue, Black, or Charcoal Grey
• Team-oriented work environment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience, including cardiac experience
• Experience with:

  • Balloon pumps (IABP)
  • Impella devices
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Day 2/Day 3 post-op CABG patients
• Current active Nebraska or multi-state compact RN license in good standing
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (PALS required for all; pediatric experience highly preferred), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Willingness to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed

Scheduling & Expectations

• Shifts: 0600-1830 and 1800-0630
• Typically scheduled for 2 weekends per month; may require more depending on unit needs
• May require up to 2 extra shifts every 6 weeks
• No self-scheduling or blocked scheduling; schedule based on unit needs
• Strict attendance policy: termination likely after 3 call-outs
• Must clock out for lunch and be punctual
• Travelers are first to float to other units (PCU, Med Surg)
• Holiday coverage: 1 major and 1 minor holiday every other week
