Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU 4E (4th Floor East Wing)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 4th Floor East Wing
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour shifts
- Day Shift: 06:30 AM – 06:30 PM
- Night Shift: 06:30 PM – 06:30 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Unit Details
- Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Number of Beds: 55
- Patient Population: Adults primarily; pediatric patients 15 years and older rarely
- RN to Patient Ratio: 1:4 (both day and night shifts)
- Nursing Assistant Support: Yes
- Charge Nurse: Yes
- Additional Unit Support: Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy
- Common Patient Diagnoses:
- Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
- Shortness of breath
- COVID-19
- Subdural hematoma
- Weakness
- Common Drips/Medications:
- PCA pumps for pain management
- Cardizem
- Insulin
- Specialty Equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other room
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- EMR System: EPIC
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Telemetry competency
Job Expectations & Policies
- Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination.
- Driver’s License: Required at submittal to verify candidate’s location within a 50-mile radius.
- RN Exam: Pass/fail exam during orientation (open book, 90% required to pass). Failure results in contract termination.
- Float: Float assignments expected, ideally to Medical-Surgical areas, based on highest need.
- Patient Experience Focus: Hourly rounding and responsiveness are emphasized.
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; CNA scrubs are ceil blue.
