Respiratory Therapist Opportunity - Phoenix, Arizona

Position Overview

  • Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
  • Location: Phoenix, AZ
  • Facility: Large teaching hospital with 607 beds, Level 1 Trauma center
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks minimum
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), 3 days per week
  • Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month; holiday rotation required
  • Orientation: 2 days on regular floor with skills validation
  • Unit Assignment: Assigned to specific areas daily; no floating to outpatient areas
  • Dress Code: Black scrubs

Requirements

  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Must have Arizona Respiratory Therapist (RT) license in hand
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required (via NBRC)
    • BLS required
    • Preferred: ACLS
    • For NICU experience: NRP required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of strong ICU experience required
    • Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital experience required
    • Previous travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU
  • Clinical Skills:
    • Must be proficient with at least one ventilator: Servo I, Jets, Oscillators
    • Must be able to assist with bronchoscopies
    • Responsible for all ABGs
    • Run all vents, BiPAP V60, and CPAP
  • EMR Experience:
    • Cerner EMR experience required (especially for ED)
  • Additional:
    • Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts)
    • No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
    • Must not hold concurrent contracts with other assignments
    • Must have own vehicle for travel teams
    • Parking provided with shuttle to facility (garage parking for night shift)
    • Team player with strong time management and communication skills
    • Respond to Clinical Response Team calls as lead on duty every shift

  • Clinical prescreen required; if recommended, direct approval to manager without second interview
  • No 48-hour contracts available
