Schedule

Nights
12-hour shifts
36 hours per week
Every other weekend
Must float between two units

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

Hospital-based telemetry/med-surg setting
1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
6 hours of orientation
Charge nurse not assigned
Nurse aides available on all shifts

Clinical Notes

Telemetry monitoring with a monitor tech
Nurses read strips
Common drips include amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitro, and dopamine for renal dosing
May care for patients on BiPAP or CPAP
Floating is between a 14-bed unit and a 44-bed unit
Patient mix includes surgical, ortho, medical, cardiac stepdown, post-cath, post-pacemaker, post-PCI, TAVR day 1+, CABG day 1+, sepsis, and respiratory distress
