Acute Care RN Job Summary

Contract Length

• 24 weeks

Shift

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• Scheduled hours: 48 per week

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• 2 years of specialty experience
• 1 prior travel assignment
• Must be able to work within a strict 75-mile radius rule
• Experience with the same type of hospital acuity
• Experience in a larger, high-acuity, high-turnover, fast-paced organization

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Rotates with permanent staff

Unit Details

• 14-bed unit
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 on days and nights
• Primary care nursing model

Patient Population / Clinical Experience

• Acute care patients with medical and cardio needs
• Common conditions include diabetes, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical overflow, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psych
• May include hospice in the future

Additional Notes

• ACLS is preferred
• Nurses are not required to read strips
• May be asked to take a patient assignment only if needed
• CNA support is generally 1:12, with occasional 1:1 and sitter coverage
• CPAP used; BiPAP only at night
• Dress code: Caribbean blue top and bottom, white top with Caribbean blue bottom, or all white
• No artificial or Shellac nails; polished nails only
• Strict attendance policy
• No bags at the nurses station
• Must take patient satisfaction, quality of care, and patient safety seriously
