Pediatrics - Almost Home Kids RN
Overview
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
- At least 1 year of Pediatric ICU experience
Unit Details
- Pediatrics - Almost Home Kids
- 12 private rooms
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and takes a patient assignment
- PCT support is staffed on both day and night shifts
- APN coverage is available Monday through Friday, 0800-1700
- Medical Director and on-call physicians are available 24/7
- The unit cares for children with medical complexities, including trach and vent patients
Schedule and Work Expectations
- 12-hour shifts: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, with no rotation
- Block scheduling is allowed
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend or every third weekend, depending on department staffing
- Holiday coverage is required on a rotation basis
- No call or standby requirement
- Typically does not float, but may float to PIC or PICU at Children's Hospital
Additional Notes
- Nurses provide all RT treatments and prep medications
- Any scrubs are acceptable
- 2 twelve-hour orientation shifts are provided
- Candidate must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
