Schedule

• Night shift
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
• 1 day of unit-specific orientation

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License

Unit Details

• PCU
• Adult patient population
• Common patient types include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure
• RN titration of drips required
• Common drips include heparin, nitro, dopamine, Cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin
• RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
• High-flow respiratory support is used on the unit
• Charge nurse is present on each shift
• Patient care tech support is available
• Floating may be required to MedSurg or ICU to take PCU-acuity patients

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• If called back in, arrival is required within 30 minutes
• Block scheduling is only considered for weekends only
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• The unit serves primarily Hispanic and Somalian populations
• Successful candidates are expected to be flexible, adaptable, team-oriented, and have strong communication skills
