Registered Nurse – Cardiology
Location: Larkspur, California
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Day shift (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Job Summary
The Cardiology RN works collaboratively within a team to coordinate patient care in the Cardiology Clinic, including Electrophysiology (EP)/Atrial Fibrillation (Afib) Clinic and Testing Center. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, identifying problems, reporting complex clinical data to cardiologists or electrophysiologists, and implementing patient care plans as directed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre- and post-operative education for Cardiology and EP procedures.
- Educate patients on cardiovascular conditions, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
- Triage patients’ physical symptoms and arrhythmias, consulting cardiologists or electrophysiologists per protocol.
- Cover RN duties in Testing Center and Cardiac PET CT Imaging as needed.
- Participate in Transition of Care Management to ensure patients and families understand discharge medications and instructions.
- Update medication and problem lists in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and ensure follow-up with cardiologists.
- Review daily lab/test results, physician tasks, and clinical worklists.
- Assist nursing leadership with nursing practices and policy development.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years of cardiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working in a clinic setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
