Job Opportunity: RN Mother/Baby

Location: Moses Lake, Washington
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide nursing care for Mother/Baby patients in a Level III Trauma Center.
• Approximately 1000 deliveries per year.
• Follow AWHONN Staffing Standards.
• Rooming-in with baby; some procedures performed in the Well Baby Nursery.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3 couplets.
• Facility is a 50-bed, Level 3 Trauma rural hospital with specialty services including orthopedics, sports medicine, OB/GYN, gastroenterology, urology, pediatrics (including pediatric psychiatry and endocrinology), adult/internal medicine, pain management, behavioral health, and family medicine.
• Preferred ability to work Labor & Delivery (L&D) as well.
• EMR system: EPIC.
• Scrubs: Any solid color.

Required Qualifications

• Current Washington State RN Licensure or Nurse Compact License.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Mother/Baby nurse in a Level III Trauma Center.
• Certifications required before onboarding:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring
  • Suicide Prevention Certification (WA RNs & LPNs require proof of 6 hours of Suicide Prevention Training)
• Other required credentials and verifications include:

  • Nursys license verification (submission required)
  • License/Certificate verification
  • Samaritan Unit Exam
  • Various health requirements: MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza Vaccine (or declination), TB Test, Varicella, Tdap, Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Background checks and drug screening (including 7-year criminal background, rapid 10-panel drug screen)
  • Education verification (diploma/degree or third-party verification)
  • Various Samaritan-specific competencies, checklists, and attestations prior to start.

• The role is based in a rural setting with a diverse patient population and multiple specialty services.
