Job Opportunity: RN Critical Care

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a CVICU mixed-acuity telemetry unit.
  • Care for critically ill, post-cardiac surgery, and more stable monitored patients.
  • Assess patient status, interpret telemetry, and respond quickly to changes.
  • Strong cardiac knowledge and prioritization skills required.
  • Manage patients with varying acuity levels.
  • Administer medications including drips such as levophed, epinephrine, dobutamine, vasopressin, and cardiac medications like cardizem, amiodarone, primacore, and diuretics.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience
  • CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption accepted.
  • Proof of immunizations or positive titers for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap (or approved declinations).
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation).
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON or 2-step skin test) within one year prior to start; if positive, must provide clearance documentation.
  • Annual TB questionnaire required within 6 months of start.
  • Fit test for N95 masks (3M 1860, 1860s, or 1870+) within one year prior to start, updated annually.
  • Health statement signed within one year confirming ability to work without restrictions.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.

Background and Competency Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days prior to start, including SSN trace, county and national checks, education and employment verification, and driving record.
  • Skills checklist specific to unit and scope of practice within one year prior to start; updated annually.
  • Competency exams and core competencies (HIPAA, safety, infection control, etc.) current within one year prior to start with passing scores of 80% or higher; updated annually.
  • Eye exam including Ishihara color test and Snellen vision test within one year prior to start.
  • Badge photo required (forward facing, well-lit, neutral background, JPEG format).

This position is ideal for an experienced critical care RN with strong cardiac knowledge and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a telemetry ICU setting.
