Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technician
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Description
- Perform therapeutic and diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures to generate quality images for physician interpretation.
- Operate specialized Siemens Symbia cameras to detect and map radioactive drugs.
- Handle radiopharmaceuticals including ordering, preparing, administering, and disposing, following strict radiation safety protocols.
- Ensure image quality and timely submission to PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
- Maintain a clean work environment and promptly report any equipment malfunctions.
- Work independently as the sole technologist on shift, requiring strong critical thinking and decisive judgment in a high-stress environment.
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety guidelines and Standard Precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Texas.
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine from NMTCB or ARRT.
- Completion of Texas Medical RT Certification Program.
- Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Required Experience

Health and Immunization Requirements
- Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity documented by vaccination, serology, or history (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Health statement or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 2-step PPD or IGRA testing for tuberculosis within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; retesting required after breaks in service > 90 days.
- Influenza vaccine is optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing is required.
- Positive PPD with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire documentation is optional but recommended.
