Overview
- Location: Los Angeles, California
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Evening, 3x12-hour shifts (14:00 to 2:30)
- Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week
- Schedule: Availability for 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- Scrubs: Navy blue, provided
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); RNs must have a BSN or MSN
- Valid California RN license (out-of-state EMSA licenses are not accepted)
- Emergency Department (ED) experience of at least 1 year, with ED experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment (no first-time travelers)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- Comfort caring for pediatric patients
- Experience with Epic
Onboarding and Compliance
- Background and screening: Background check and EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG searches, all completed within 60 days of start. Education verification (diploma or official transcript).
- Licensure: State license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Competencies: Medication/pharmacology exam for all RNs; facility competency exam (80% pass rate); dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for ER RNs (80% pass rate).
- Health: Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually. TB screening (QuantiFERON-Gold) within 1 year, even with a past positive result. Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity documentation. 9-panel drug screen within 12 months. Flu vaccination documentation between 10/01 and 03/31, due by 11/01. COVID vaccine documentation or declination. N95 fit test (onsite fit testing is available only under specific conditions).
- Training: Facility modules on C-ICARE, code of conduct, radiation hazard awareness, age-specific training, safe patient handling, HIPAA, annual OSHA education, We Listen We Care, and a California harassment prevention certificate (valid 2 years). Proof of completion is required for each module.
- Paperwork: Driver's license or state ID, confidentiality agreement, elder/child/domestic abuse reporting forms, employment application (last 7 years, with explanations for gaps of 30 days or more), work history verification (last 5 years), and 2 professional references (supervisor level or above, one from the past year). Facility access forms are due within 72 hours of signing and must be submitted 3 Fridays before start. Post-start RN competency checklist.
