Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Per Diem)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a General Emergency Department (Combined Adult/Pediatrics) at a STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility
• Skills required: line draws, IV site maintenance, arterial line management, central line care, phlebotomy, starting IVs, continuous IV paralytics and sedation, blood product administration, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, intubation, ventilated patients care, isolation precautions, triage
• Patient diagnoses include abdominal pain, STEMI, stroke, UTI, anemia, overdose, suicidal ideation
• Manage dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Special procedures include conscious sedation, intubation, and patients going to Cath Lab for STEMI and neuro-intervention
• Additional patient care areas: pediatrics, ortho-trauma, burns, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, psychiatric conditions including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior management, psychiatric holds, suicidal patients
• Weekend availability is required
• 12-hour shifts
• No orientation provided; candidates must be comfortable working independently
• Charting system: Epic

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Emergency Department specialty
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
  • PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required every 2 years)
• EPIC experience required
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPN
• Must be STEMI and Stroke certified facility experience preferred

Compliance and Documentation

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
  • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Fit mask test required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)
• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• Education verification required for all candidates
• References: minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Training and Modules

• Completion of up to 10 hours of Providence and specialty-specific modules independently before starting work
• Required WorkRamp modules include:

  • Core modules for RN/LVN in California
  • Specialty-specific modules for Emergency Department and related specialties
  • Annual regulatory modules
• Epic training modules must be completed after Providence access is granted; transcript required before moving to Paid Day Work status

Additional Details

• 3-month separation required between assignments at Providence facilities
• Parking fee applies ($2.75 daily as of 8/1)
• Candidates must have an agency badge and provide a passport-style badge photo with neutral background
• Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
