Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Therapist
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Must hold a valid Respiratory Therapist License/Certification (RST or BRPT)
- Schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
- 1-2 weeks of training on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
- Must work 2 winter holidays
- Ability to float to Lewis Center
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
- PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI)
- NRP (AHA AAP certification) – required for NICU RNs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- National Tech Certification (NBRC required for RRTs)
- State License Verification (Ohio State license required)
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
Compliance & Background Requirements
- I9 form required
- Current government-issued photo ID required (no temporary IDs accepted)
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification through National Student Clearing House
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) within 60 days of start, updated for each new contract
- Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start (standalone verification)
- Ohio-specific searches: Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry (all within 30 days of start)
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant acceptable)
- References: 2 professional references required (Charge RN acceptable for one; peer references not accepted)
- Employment application or resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must show candidate is free of communicable diseases)
- N95 Fit Testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask models accepted)
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11)
- TB testing: Negative TB or chest X-ray per facility protocol; TB questionnaire required at start and annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination acceptable if negative/equivocal titer)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine required October 31 - May 31 (declination not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval)
- COVID-19 vaccines are optional; medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Facility Specific Documents
- Code of Conduct acknowledgment
- Confidentiality and IT Use Agreement
- Affiliating Health Record (address must match ID and employment application exactly)
- Infection Control Policy acknowledgment
- Fingerprinting proof of submission (time sensitive)
- Fit test proof of appointment if completing onsite
- TB form if not completing new TB test for assignment
- Fingerprint screening questions form
- Flu exemption policy form if applicable
- Background attestation if background check is pending
- Tdap waiver form if applicable
Additional Notes
- Legal name on all documents must match exactly (no nicknames or typos)
- Ohio driver’s license holders must not live within 60 miles of the facility to avoid being considered local
- Candidates undergoing name changes must provide proof
- Fingerprint results can pend at start if facility completes onsite fingerprinting, but candidate must complete fingerprint appointment before facility involvement
- Screenshots or photos are not acceptable for compliance documentation for certifications, immunizations, and health documents
