Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dubois, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience acceptable
• Must hold a Pennsylvania or compact nursing license
• No local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Day shifts: 1:5 or 1:7 with LPN
  • Night shifts: 1:6 or 1:8 with LPN

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA, ARC, Military accepted; check unit requirements
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all travelers
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – As required; check unit requirements
• NIH Stroke Certification – Required for all RNs; must be renewed annually
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care Units; annual certification required
• NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, Allied Professionals
• State License Verification (primary source online)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Must meet passing score
• General Competency Exam – Must meet passing score

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Tdap vaccination within past 10 years (declinations accepted with form)
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months or chest X-ray within 5 years
• Required immunizations or documented immunity/declinations for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season Nov-April)
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination
• Alcohol breathalyzer test (not required for this location)

Background and Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and state checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Annual skills checklist
• Education verification required (transcripts, diplomas, or 3rd party verification)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 1 year
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting (FBI) within 12 months of start; must be completed in PA

Facility Specific Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Passport-style photo for badge
• Completion of facility orientation packet and acknowledgements prior to start
• Completion of bloodborne pathogen quiz prior to start
• Medical surveillance checklist prior to start
• Vaccine declination forms if applicable (COVID, flu, MMR, HepB, Tdap)

This position requires compliance with all listed certifications, health screenings, background checks, and facility-specific documentation prior to start.
