Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM and/or 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
  • Rotating on-call hours for after-hours, weekends, and holiday coverage (weekend required every other week)
  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • High-volume, high-acuity Cardiac Cath Lab unit performing 12-18 cases daily across 3 newly renovated labs
  • Procedures include STEMI call, TAVRs, Watchman, Cardiomems, carotids, Impella, CTO, peripherals, TEVARS/EVARS, and more
  • Use of Philips equipment, Medrad and manifold injection systems, XPER and EPIC documentation systems
  • Team-oriented environment with opportunity to float within scope to medical assignments and Emergency Department (for medical holds)
  • Scrubs provided
  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Local candidates accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
  • Drug screening within 30 days prior to start (must include specific panels such as Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Methamphetamines, Opiates, Oxycodone, PCP)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination documentation required or declination form
  • Fit mask (N95) certification required and must be updated annually (exceptions apply)
  • Background checks including lifetime criminal history, education verification, and federal/state registries required
  • Two professional references required: one from current year and one within last two years, from supervisors or equivalent
  • Employment application and work history verification for at least two years required
  • Facility-specific documents and orientation modules must be completed prior to start

  • Opportunity to float to medical and emergency department units as needed
  • Manager discretion on block scheduling and return-to-office restrictions
  • On-call is rotating but not mandatory every shift
