Registered Nurse – ER Holding (Night Shift)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Patient Population

  • Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week
  • 12 hours per shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Staffing Ratio

  • 1 nurse to 4 patients

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Current RN license valid in Ohio
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA accreditation required)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (AHA provider/instructor or RQI accepted; letter of completion not accepted)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG exams
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending results)
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual test
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31) with mask requirement if declined
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio code 3701.881), EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership)
  • Employment application and skills checklist required prior to start

  • Telemetry and dysrhythmia management
  • PCU/Stepdown care experience
  • IV insulin and heparin protocols
  • Renal failure management
  • Cardiac and vasoactive drip management including titration
  • Blood product administration
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Rapid response team utilization
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BIPAP, oxygen therapy)
  • EPIC electronic health record documentation

  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
  • Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
  • Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending fingerprint attestations accepted under specific conditions
