Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Corinth, Mississippi
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts of 12 hours followed by 4 shifts of 12 hours; rotating 48-hour work weeks)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical Surgical unit during night shifts.
• Rotating schedule with 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts followed by 4 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
• Locals are accepted.
• First-time travelers are welcome.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Mississippi.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks within 1 year, including SS Trace, County searches for last 7 years, Nationwide, Sex Offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
• Copy of BSN or ASN diploma.
• Nursys verification prior to start.
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration.
• Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (Joint Commission Training Safety Manual).
• Facility-specific vaccination policy acknowledgment and new hire forms completed prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year of start; chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD.
• Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
• Immunization or positive titer documentation for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination required for RNs in Nursery, Labor & Delivery, Surgery, and Pediatric units.
• 9-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (instant tests acceptable).
• Flu vaccine or declination form required during flu season (October 1 – March 31).
• Mississippi State Department of Health criminal history fingerprint results (valid for 2 years) required for patient-facing positions.

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references within the last 3 years.
• Skills checklist completion required.

This position offers a structured night shift schedule on a medical surgical unit with a 12-week travel contract in Mississippi. It requires current licensure, certifications, and compliance with comprehensive background and health documentation. Prior travel experience is not required.
