Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (MS/Telemetry Unit)

Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Medical Surgical with Telemetry (Telemetry Techs are separate)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend and holiday shifts required occasionally
  • Electronic Medical Record system: MEDITECH (experience not required)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, required prior to start and must be maintained throughout assignment
  • IV start capability

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Employment eligibility verification (I9, E-Verify)
  • Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
  • Physical exam: Initial and annual attestation of ability to meet physical demands
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination accepted
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months prior to start; annual TB questionnaire if prior positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or declination required (titer/vaccines preferred)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or declination preferred
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked over 1 year with the client
  • Employment application/resume submission required

Notes

  • Facility requires completion of religious or medical exemption forms if flu vaccine is declined
  • Candidate must carry photo ID during all hours of service
  • Telemetry techs are separate; this role focuses on nursing duties on MS/Telemetry unit
  • Some weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory
