Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Operating Room RN primarily on Day shift (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with possible night shift rotation.
• Weeknight call: 1-2 nights per week on average.
• Weekend call: Approximately every 4-5 weeks (24-hour shift on Saturday or Sunday, 1-2 days per month).
• Off-shifting (1-3 shifts per 4-week period) possible but not guaranteed.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
• Scrubs provided by the facility for OR/SPT staff.
• Locals are not accepted; candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current driver's license.
• Neurology experience.
• Bariatric surgery experience.
• Colo-Rectal surgery experience.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current, valid RN license for Nebraska required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit description.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
• Primary source verification of licensure required prior to start.
• NURSYS verification required.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background check within 30 days of start and updated annually, including multi-county and nationwide checks.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
• Education verification required.
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry search required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+).
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tdap within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive, updated annually
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (measles, mumps, rubella) with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
• Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances).
• Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions or declinations accepted.
• Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start for OR staff.

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Candidates must provide interview availability for the next 3-4 days when subbing.

Work Environment & Notes

• Call-back pay applies only if called back after leaving the facility post-shift. Extended shifts are paid at regular or overtime rates accordingly.
• Travelers are not paid the same as core staff and have different incentive structures.
• Parking permits available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong neuro and robotic surgery skills seeking a travel contract in Nebraska.
