Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work on the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
  • Requires active ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses.
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • Rotating shifts including holidays and inclement weather work required.
  • Schedule includes every other weekend and one holiday per contract.
  • No local candidates within 50 miles accepted.

Work Schedule

  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Total hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients.
  • Postpartum nursing experience.
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Physical and Job Requirements

  • Ability to work full term of contract at assigned location.
  • Ability to work full shift hours, take call, work assigned weekends, and at least 50% of holidays during contract.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Missouri with primary source verification within 60 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start.
  • Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion screenings within 60 days of start.
    • International background check if candidate traveled outside the USA in last 7 years.
  • Missouri-specific background screenings:
    • MO Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or MO Caregiver search must be on file within 60 days before starting.
  • Drug screening: Negative 7-panel drug test within 60 days of start.
  • Health and immunization requirements (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing):
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
    • Fit mask test valid within 1 year (3M 1870+, 1860R, 1860S, or 9205).
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption.
    • Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually. Positive TB requires chest x-ray and INH treatment documentation or facility-specific recommendation.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines (at least one after 1980). No declinations accepted; medical exemptions require facility approval.
    • Hepatitis B series or positive/reactive titer required; declinations no longer accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023.
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted; medical exemptions require facility approval.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required.
  • References: Two professional references within last 2 years required.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit a photo for badge issuance (new candidates only).
  • Resume must include at least 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days, education details, and valid contact information.
  • Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather conditions.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel nursing experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in Missouri.
