Job Details
- Position: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse (Scrub required for this shift)
- Location: Seattle, Washington
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, Friday-Sunday, 18:30 - 07:00 (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- On Call: Required, variable days and overnight/weekend call
- Floating: Not required
- Weekend Work: Yes
Patient Population & Unit Information
- Surgical specialties include:
- Orthopedics/Spine
- Craniofacial/Neuro/Plastics/Oral
- ENT/Ophthalmology
- General/Urology/Gynecology/Robotics
- Cardiac
- Patient age range: Neonates to adults
- Unit requires circulating skills in the OR
- Comfortable managing neuro cases (e.g., craniotomies, VP shunts), orthopedic cases, and airway emergencies
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Pediatrics experience, with Pediatrics experience within the last year
- Pediatrics Operating Room (OR) experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check (including FACIS, county civil, state, national, sex offender, and global sanctions searches)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-Mar)
- COVID vaccine strongly recommended but not required
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
- Respirator medical clearance and fit test (N95 or CAPR/PAPR) valid for entire assignment
- Competency Exams:
- Pediatric competency exam (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (time sensitive, 80% passing score)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Skills Checklists:
- General OR skills checklist
- Pediatric skills checklist (required if not booked specifically in Pediatrics)
- Photo for Badge: Must be on blue background, no hats or headwear, submitted within 72 hours of contract signing
Additional Information
- Candidates must complete required pre-start modules (approx. 8 hours), including Epic test-out modules if assigned
- Candidates will be required to take a proctored math test onsite upon arrival; remediation allowed if needed
- Candidates must be prepared to use both N95 and CAPR/PAPR respirators due to possible supply constraints
- Meal waiver agreement available but not mandatory unless candidate opts to waive second meal period
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Pediatric OR RN working night shifts Friday through Sunday with on-call responsibilities. The role requires strong OR circulating skills, comfort with neuro and orthopedic cases, and pediatric experience is highly preferred. Candidates must hold a valid WA RN license and current BCLS and PALS certifications. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, competency exams, and facility-specific requirements is mandatory.
