Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Tyler, Texas


Position Details

  • Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse
  • Location: Tyler, Texas
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: 4x10 hour day shifts (10:30 AM - 9:00 PM) with rotating day off plus call
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1.5 years of Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse experience, including experience within the last year
  • Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
  • Experience required in the following areas:
    • Orthopedics
    • Neurology
    • Vascular Surgery
    • Urology

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas with primary source verification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, and Urology

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Complete 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and education verification
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
  • Education verification with transcript or diploma if needed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Completion of unit-specific Skills Checklist annually
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years
  • Clear headshot photo for badge

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.
  • Orientation and fingerprinting requirements apply (fingerprinting onsite during orientation for New Mexico placements only).
  • Competency exams and color blindness testing may be required as applicable.
