Travel Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro (Saint Louis, MO)

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

• Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Trauma overflow, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) overflow
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Parking: Garage parking onsite at no cost

Job Description

• Provide nursing care for patients with neurological and stroke-related conditions, including trauma overflow and MS patients.
• Floating within scope of practice to MS unit and other hospital care areas, including ICU and Emergency Department for MS holds.
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend.
• Block scheduling accommodations may be available at manager’s discretion.
• Locals are not accepted for this assignment.
• Pending license candidates are accepted.
• Requests for return-to-office (RTO) accommodations must be submitted with application and are subject to manager approval.
• Electronic medical record system: EPIC required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent Med Surg experience
• Experience in Neurology nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start, including SSN trace, 7-year county residency/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
• State-specific background checks and registries as applicable for Missouri.
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
• Fit mask testing (respirator fit test) to be completed onsite during orientation; must be clean-shaven for fit test.
• TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (must be renewed annually).
• COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.
• Required to sign confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct prior to start.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation checklists during first week on assignment.
• Two professional references required for new candidates.
• Skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• First-time travel nurses are accepted for this assignment.
• EPIC experience is mandatory.
• No locals accepted; must be willing to travel.
• Candidate must be willing to float to other units as needed within scope of practice.
• All required certifications and trainings must be current and maintained throughout the assignment.
