Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Linville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Schedule includes every other weekend (EOW) and holidays as needed
• Float within skillset required
• Must reside more than 40 miles from the facility (address verification required)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• One year or more of total travel nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
• Recent experience with Epic EMR system required
• Valid driver’s license required for address verification

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or equivalent
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, required before start
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
• Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke) not required unless specifically requested

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Photo for badge: passport-style, shoulders up, front-facing, neutral background, high resolution, JPEG format
• Self-Study Orientation and Post Test must be completed
• Signed Accountability Statements and Personal Data Sheet required
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required within 5 years for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana, within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required (facility approval needed)
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Completed employment application/resume and skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates must submit a cover sheet and current NURSYS report with their profile
• Facility-specific criminal history investigation form must be completed if background check returns a hit
• No candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility will be accepted

This position is ideal for experienced Behavioral Health RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working 12-hour day shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance requirements.
