Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Work setting: Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient ratios and daily caseload details available upon request
• Must work every other weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope as needed to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling (discuss with manager)
• Local candidates accepted without radius restrictions
• No pending licenses accepted; must have active Illinois RN license
• Return to Office (RTO) ideally no more than 5 days per week
• Guaranteed hours subject to client call-off policy

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Intermediate Care experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Clinical skills and experience including:

  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Post cardiac angiogram care
  • Post myocardial infarction (MI) care
  • Pre/post cardiac catheterization (cath) management
  • Pre/post cardiac surgery care
  • Sheath removal and TR band management
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
  • Arterial line and PICC line management
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Neurological care including craniotomy, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic care including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements
  • Plastic surgery care including skin grafts

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification (degree/transcript) required
• Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and State Police registries checks within 30 days prior to start
• Fingerprinting and Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry results required for clinical candidates without an active IL license; prints must be taken in Illinois 3 business days prior to start
• Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
• Badge photo (color, plain background) required before start
• Code of Conduct acknowledgment required within 7 days of contract signing
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs scheduled within 7 days of contract signing; must confirm good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted); not required for non-clinical or remote candidates
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or documented immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; negative dilute results require retesting
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• Two professional references required for all direct travel, allied, per diem, and acute care candidates
• Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates

Facility and Work Environment

• Acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
• Magnet designated hospital and Level I trauma center
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Any solid color allowed
• Parking permit required but no cost for parking

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have no more than 5 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions ideally
• Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation; excess cancellations billed accordingly
• On-call shifts count as called-off shifts if used in lieu of cancellation
• Candidates must be prepared to float within their scope of practice as needed
