Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• On-call requirement: at least two call days per week and 1-2 weekends every 6-week schedule (depending on need)
• Overtime days each week possible
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty

Licensure & Certification Requirements

• CVOR Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Must have a valid Driver’s License at time of contract signing (required for computer access and must be carried on duty)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) — verify unit-specific requirements

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year background check within 12 months of start date, including alias and multi-state searches
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
• Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
• Education verification of highest level required
• Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
• Various health documents required (see Health Requirements)

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • TB (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for remote workers)
• Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)

Orientation & Training

• Online Cornerstone modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required before start
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
• Pass/fail testing (medication and arrhythmia exams) required for RNs and certain techs; two attempts allowed, 84% passing score
• Floating to other qualified units/campuses required as per facility policy

This position requires a surgical technologist with at least one year of experience, CST certification, and BLS. The role includes call responsibilities and floating to other units as needed. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and mandatory training is required.
