Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Holiday coverage is required; flexibility needed for return-to-office (RTO) during holidays based on staffing demands.
• Work primarily on a 10-bed ER Overflow Observation Unit with patient ratios of 1:6 at night and 1:5 during the day.
• Focus on constant reassessment of patient readiness for discharge; rapid admission and discharge of patients.
• Floating to other Medical Surgical units approximately once per week, depending on need.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Medical Surgical units have a mix of medical patients with staffing ratios typically 1:5-6 at night; ratios may flex to 1:8 with LPN support.
• Must be willing to work collaboratively with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved at this time.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
