Pediatric ER Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, Massachusetts

Position Details

• Job Title: Pediatric ER Registered Nurse
• Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Evening shift, 3:00 PM start (flexible ±4 hours based on department needs)
• Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Identification: Valid driver’s license or state ID
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (all counties lived/worked)
  • SSN trace, national criminal search, NSOR, OIG, SAM, education verification
  • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
• Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education or transcript with graduation date (diplomas not accepted)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Negative TB testing (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive TB
  • Immunizations or documented immunity/declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics):

    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series or reactive titer required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or facility-specific declination
• Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start, including panels for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, fentanyl, oxycodone, and others
• References: Two professional references within the last three years
• Employment History: Application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Competency & Testing Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RNs
• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Medication exam required for all RNs
  • Telemetry exam required only if working in units with telemetry monitoring (not required for Pediatrics)
  • Minimum passing score of 80% on first day of orientation required to avoid cancellation
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Recommended but not required for Pediatric ER RNs
