Job Opportunity: Outpatient Pediatrics Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description
- 8-hour day shifts
- Pediatric nursing with a focus on diabetes education and medication management
- Candidates must be willing and able to float to other units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of ambulatory care experience
Certifications (Must be current and AHA-approved where applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required for certain units but not specifically for this role
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for some pediatric critical care areas
- CHEMO certification if working in pediatric oncology (not specifically required here)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and various federal/state databases
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
- Drug testing (standard 9-panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted without medical exemption)
- Negative TB tests (2 required: one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (IGG titers or 2 vaccines each)
- Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption as per current facility policy
Additional Requirements
- Pass/fail medication and telemetry competency exams with a minimum score of 80%
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
- Completion of required learning modules and cybersecurity awareness training
- Ability to complete annual TB questionnaire and other facility-specific health screenings
- Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment
- Resume with 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained
Work Environment
- Candidates must be flexible to float to other units and facilities as needed
- Orientation includes pass/fail exams on medication and telemetry knowledge
- Facility requires compliance with various health and safety protocols including mask fit testing
