ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Fishers, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Specialty: Critical Care Float Nurse (ICU)
• Schedule: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Floating required across ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
• Must be able to handle higher patient ratios
• Resource traveler role with flexibility to float between multiple units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Clinical Skills & Unit Information

• Patient conditions commonly managed: ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, Acute Shock
• Procedures and equipment familiarity: Cath Lab, TR Bands, Sheath Pulls, EEGs, Cardioversion, Stress Tests

Work Hours & Shifts

• Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern:

  • 3x12 hour shifts = 36 hours/week
  • 4x12 hour shifts = 48 hours/week
  • 8 and 10 hour shifts also possible with 40 hours guaranteed/week

Additional Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
• Background checks required within 90 days of start, including 7-year work/living history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
  • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, with chest x-ray if positive history
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Color blindness testing required (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
• Skills checklist and competency exams required annually
• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment, verified within 2 years, with appropriate supervisory titles
• Employment application must cover last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days

• Local candidates not accepted for this travel position
• Perioperative, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from restrictions on Indiana RN licenses effective 11/30/24; this position is not exempt

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are flexible and able to float across multiple critical care units.
