Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse

Location: Modesto, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide specialized wound care nursing services, including patient assessment, planning, and delivery of care. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure patient-centric, coordinated care plans. Maintain high standards of safety, confidentiality, and evidence-based nursing practice.


Work Schedule

  • Day shift
  • 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum of 1 year of wound care experience, including within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments specific to wound care needs and changes in condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to develop and adjust patient care plans
  • Communicate patient care plans effectively across shifts and departments
  • Provide compassionate, competent, and cost-effective nursing care following hospital policies and evidence-based practices
  • Delegate tasks appropriately within legal scope of practice
  • Educate patients and families to support optimal care and transitions
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient health information (PHI)
  • Participate in quality improvement and safety event reporting

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
  • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS not available)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
  • Education verification with preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Adult TDAP within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days (annual renewal required)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
  • Respiratory safety clearance annually (not required for all roles)
  • Completion of facility-specific regulatory orientation and compliance documents prior to start

Documentation and Verification

  • Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days, including city and state of employment
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
  • Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
  • Professional license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete and sign various facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and conditional offer attestations prior to start
  • Religious exemption requests for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccines require approval and specific documentation
  • Candidates must complete an Epic questionnaire (for RNs) starting with contracts beginning November 3, 2025
