NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week (12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Level 4 NICU caring for patients from 23 weeks gestation up to 1 year old.
• Patient diagnoses include PPHN, bowel perforation or NEC, BPD, tracheostomy/G-button evaluations, pre-op cardiac anomalies, gastroschisis, hydrocephalus, and others.
• Primary assignment in NICU with first float responsibilities to PICU, CCU, or med-surg floors caring for patients with similar skill sets.
• Work requirement: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, plus one additional shift every 3 weeks during high census periods.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable).
• State-specific registry search (Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry) within 30 days of start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN.
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required).
• Immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine required.
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 12 months; positive results require additional documentation.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters or exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or completed vaccine series required; no declinations allowed except approved medical or religious exemptions.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of disease; boosters or exemptions accepted with documentation.
• Seasonal flu vaccine required for all new starts beginning 10/1/2025, or approved exemption on file by 11/30/2025.

Additional Requirements

• Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 12 months prior to start; instant tests accepted.
• Two professional references within 2 years of start date.
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams required.
• Employment application and verification processed through agency systems.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Candidate must complete a facility-specific Cognito form prior to start.
• Compliance with all documentation and health requirements is mandatory for clearance and assignment start.
