Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with EPIC experience. COVID and flu vaccinations are required; COVID exemption may be considered with proper documentation and approval. Indicate if you have previously worked at this facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum of 1 year of rehabilitation experience, with rehabilitation experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, or state ID) required; expired IDs not accepted.
• Background checks must be current within 30 days of assignment start, including:

  • 7-year county checks (updated annually or with location changes)
  • National Federal and USA criminal searches
  • Social Security Trace
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, Sex Offender Search
• Education verification through official channels required; diploma or transcript must be provided.
• Two supervisory references required, at least one within the last year, both from the specialty area.
• Employment verification covering the last 7 years required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams required, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency (80% pass rate)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for ICU, CCU, ER, Telemetry RNs (80% pass rate)
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) updated annually with 80% or better score.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Annual physical exam or statement of health signed by MD, DO, NP, ARNP, or PA within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 12 months; preferred off-site but may be completed onsite if necessary.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required with proof including patient identifiers and dates:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON gold or TSpot within 90 days) or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB history
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella - positive titer or 2 live vaccines at least 28 days apart
  • Hepatitis B series completion or positive titer or declination form
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 live vaccines at least 28 days apart
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually by October 31
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required as of July 2025
• 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to start.
• Mandatory Reporter Certification for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training through Iowa HHS website, with valid certification copies.
• Facility-specific safety and orientation acknowledgements including HIPAA training (annual).
• Completion of facility’s Learning Lessons prior to start, tracked by the facility.
• Compliance with facility’s COVID and flu vaccine exemption processes if applicable.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Candidates must be prepared to provide all required documentation and verifications timely to meet compliance deadlines.
