Job Opportunity: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Float position covering multiple units including subacute rehab, long-term care (LTC), pulmonary care, ventilator care, and memory care.
  • Work every other weekend.
  • Units include:
    • Household Units (LTC): Long-term care for patients, including those with dementia or cognitive impairments. Requires attention to patient routines and needs.
    • Hall 1 (Subacute Care): 42-bed unit with high complexity needs including post-op, stroke, cardiac rehab, wound care.
    • Hall 2 (LTC/Memory Care): 50-bed unit with varying acuity including diabetes, cardiac issues, dementia.
    • Burk 1 (Pulmonary Care): 17-bed LTC unit with chronic and acute illness care, including chronic trach patients.
    • Burk 2 (Ventilator): 18-23 bed unit for patients with complex respiratory needs requiring ventilator support. Requires specialized training for ventilator care and alarm response.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid LPN / LVN license in Maryland
  • Minimum 1 year of Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications & Compliance Requirements

  • ACLS and BLS must be current and from an approved provider.
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu (seasonal).
  • Competency exams including medication and unit-specific skills.
  • EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam may be required depending on unit.
  • Completion of facility-specific floating and time & attendance policies.
  • Education verification and license primary source verification.
  • Annual updates for certain CEUs (Stroke and Trauma) may be required depending on assignment duration.
