Registered Nurse - Rehab Unit (Marrero, Louisiana)

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts
• Unit focus: Rehab floor caring for brain injuries, stroke patients, and trauma patients
• Weekend requirement: Yes
• On-call requirement: No
• Float requirement: Float as needed
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Patient ratio: 6:1
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license in good standing for Louisiana
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
• Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC, PALS, NRP)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Competency exams (Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Core Parts I-III) updated annually
• Physical exam within 12 months (not always required)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccine or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – Mar 31)

Additional Notes

• Must comply with employee appearance policy
• Float as needed within the unit
• Holiday coverage every other holiday
• No on-call shifts required

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry and rehab patients including brain injury, stroke, and trauma care. The schedule offers flexibility between 3x12 and 4x12 shifts.
