Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Redlands, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for a community hospital ICU. Provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
• First-time travelers will be considered
• On call, weekends, and float required
• Experience with Meditech documentation and SBAR communication
• Dress code: blue scrubs (plain, no logos; not provided)

Certifications (Required)

• ACLS (AHA only; RQI not acceptable)
• BLS (AHA only; RQI not acceptable)
• NIH Stroke Certification

• Post cardiac surgery (not directly from OR)

• GI surgery
• Chronic/acute renal failure

• Arterial line management

• Starting IVs
• Continuous IV sedation
• Procedural sedation administration
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke management
• External ventricular drains (EVD)
• Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• ICP monitoring
• Post neurosurgery management
• Traumatic brain injury care
• Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
• Care of ventilated patients
• High flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator management
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE use
• Phlebotomy
• Surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Skills/Experience (Preferred)

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit
• Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• ECMO
• Post cardiac surgery (directly from OR)
• Pre/post cardiac cath/intervention
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Sheath removal

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• I9 form
• Unexpired government-issued photo ID or passport
• E-Verify
• Background check within 30 days of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• Signed acknowledgments for safety manual, abuse reporting, confidentiality, code of conduct, drug-free workplace, employee handbook, sexual harassment, and other facility-specific policies
• Photo for badge (recent, color, plain background)
• Job description and physical demands acknowledgment
• Employee health services consent and screenings (including tuberculosis screening and employee health screening)
• Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
• Fit mask testing prior to start (specific approved masks; no facial hair interfering with seal)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot within 90 days, updated annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella titers or vaccinations within 90 days
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declining)
  • COVID vaccination plus booster or approved exemption
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start
• Color blind exam (Ishihara test) for clinical positions
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start (required for Vaya)

• Annual skills checklist and work history verification

Additional Notes

• One return to office (RTO) up to 7 consecutive days will be considered
• Start date: 12/10
• This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week contract length
• Blue scrubs required (not provided)

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with strong critical care skills and certifications, comfortable with a fast-paced community hospital ICU environment requiring flexibility for on-call, weekends, and floating duties.
