Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Facility: ICU Unit, Night Shift (3x12 hour shifts, 7pm-7:30am)


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months recent ICU experience
  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in ICU specialty prior to travel assignments
  • Permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Certification required
  • Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation (passing score required)

Certifications & Training

  • Mandatory:
    • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI acceptable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)
    • Pass/Fail Testing (ECG & Medication) during orientation
    • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
    • State License Verification (Primary Source within 30 days of start)
    • NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
  • Preferred/As Applicable:
    • PALS (for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Pediatric OR)
    • NRP (for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU)
    • TNCC (preferred, not required for ER)
    • Tech Cert Verification (CVOR, NBSTSA)
  • Complete all required online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Background check required prior to start, updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • References: 2 references from employment within 1 year of start, from Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit Mask (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) fit test within 12 months, updated annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; declinations not accepted)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • TB Questionnaire if history of positive TB, signed annually by provider
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster if negative/equivocal; exemptions reviewed case-by-case
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination documentation required
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; booster if negative/equivocal; exemptions reviewed case-by-case
  • Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31); declinations not accepted

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID during assignment
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 6 months may have additional orientation/testing requirements
  • Modules and testing must be completed prior to clearance to start
  • Candidates must use legal name in onboarding systems
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification

Shift Details

  • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, with strong critical care skills and required certifications, ready to work night shifts in a high-acuity hospital ICU setting.
