Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Shift: Four 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
• On-Call: Primary call 2 nights per week and every third weekend
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Block Schedule: Schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-Timers Accepted: Yes
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• Illinois-specific searches including Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and State Police registries within 30 days prior to start
• Fingerprinting through Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)
• Education verification (degree or transcript)
• State license and NURSYS verification
• Competency exam (clinical/allied candidates)
• Badge photo (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
• Code of Conduct acknowledgment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test (3M masks accepted) for new contracts starting 09/02/25 and after
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by 11/30
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied candidates
• Skills checklist for clinical/allied candidates

Additional Notes

• Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts if used in lieu of call-off

This position is suitable for IR Techs with at least 1 year of experience who hold the required certifications and are comfortable with on-call and weekend work in a Level II Trauma acute care hospital setting.
