Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Clinical Experience: Must have ICU and ED experience; NICU experience preferred
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
  • Louisiana State License (must be in hand before start)
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required
• Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
• On Call: Not required
• Float: Not applicable

Additional Requirements & Competencies

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Various competency exams required annually, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams
• Annual updates required for core competencies (Core Part I, II, III)
• Physical exam within 12 months (not required by facility but may be required by placement agency)
• Immunizations and health documentation required, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent testing required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation required
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Summary

This travel Respiratory Therapist role requires at least 2 years of experience with ICU and ED exposure, preferred NICU experience, and proficiency with Epic EMR. Candidates must hold current Louisiana licensure and required certifications (ACLS, BLS, RRT). The position includes every other weekend work but no on-call or float duties.
