Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Floating required to Medical Surgical unit
- Stroke experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must have at least 1 year of nursing experience
- Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
- Exposure to contagious illnesses possible
- Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year
- Rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather work required
- Must be able to work full shifts, take call, work weekends, and at least 50% of holidays during contract
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC Provider card required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred but not required
- Experience: Minimum 1 year nursing experience required (stroke experience specifically required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing over 20 lbs
- Exposure to contagious illnesses
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history and various federal/state exclusions
- Drug screening (7-panel negative within 60 days)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or approved exemption
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Photo ID and state driver’s license or ID required
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) or Caregiver Background Screening required within 60 days
- NURSYS verification of RN license within 60 days
- Professional references (2 within last 2 years)
- Resume with 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Floating to Medical Surgical unit required
- Stroke experience mandatory
- Rotating shifts and holiday work expected
- First-time travelers welcome
