Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Berlin, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks (approximately 4 months)

Job Description

- Documentation System: Epic (experience within past 2 years required)
- Medication System: Pixis
- Dress Code: Hospital scrubs preferred (any color), closed-toe shoes, neat hair/beard, jewelry permitted if hygiene maintained, no chipped/cracked nail polish
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Certifications:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience required
- Neonate and pediatric (NICU/PICU) experience required (facility does not have dedicated NICU/PICU but plays significant role in care)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Other:
- EPIC experience within past 2 years is mandatory
- All specialties worked must be well documented on each employment entry
Clinical Responsibilities & Equipment
- Manage ventilators in conjunction with Pulmonary Critical Care physicians and Hospitalist service
- Use of Hamilton C3 and T1 Ventilators, V60 NIV, Airvo 2, F&P Heated HFNC, Bubble CPAP
- RT-driven protocols for bronchodilator therapy, hyperinflation, airway clearance, and NIV therapy
- Mechanical ventilation protocols for ICU patients
- External transports for adult critical care patients
Additional Information
- Assignment is an urgent backfill for up to 16 weeks
- Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April
- No block scheduling allowed
- Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and detailed work history required (bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification as applicable
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- Drug testing (not required annually for VT facilities)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 Fit Test required prior to assignment and updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap within 10 years
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months, updated annually; chest X-ray if positive TB test
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry Consent Form required
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background)
- Auto insurance required if using personal vehicle for work-related travel
