Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Zion, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work as an IR Nurse in an oncology interventional suite.
• Responsibilities include working in each procedural room, administering moderate sedation, prepping and recovering patients in the IR Recovery space.
• Utilize Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation.
• Provide support to Radiologists.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, with call required.
• Scrubs provided.

Required Qualifications

• Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Interventional Radiology
• Experience: Minimum 2 years required, 5 years preferred (use 5 years as requirement).
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA only, no HeartCode)
  • BLS (AHA only)
• Skills/Experience Required:

  • Interventional Radiology procedures including:

    • Pre/Post Procedure care
    • Gastrostomy Tube Placement
    • Liver Ablation
    • Paracentesis
    • Nephrostomy
    • Renal Artery Stent Placement
    • Lung Biopsy
    • Pulmonary Angiography
    • Thoracentesis
    • Central Venous Access/Port Placement
    • Monitoring Procedural Sedation
    • Radiation and Laser Safety
• Preferred Skills:

  • Chemoembolization
  • Percutaneous Hepatic Angiography
  • Pulmonary Embolization
  • Ventilator Monitoring

Prior Travel Experience

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
• Background checks including Social Security Trace, Education Verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
• Education verification required.
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
• Primary source verification of RN license prior to start and upon expiration.
• NURSYS verification prior to start.
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
• Physical exam within last 12 months.
• Annual respirator fit testing and adherence to facial hair policy.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (history or declination not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including marijuana)
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (masking required if exempt)
  • COVID vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
• Annual skills checklist required.

Summary

This is a travel/contract position for an experienced Interventional Radiology RN with a strong background in oncology procedural nursing. The role requires advanced certifications, multiple specialized IR skills, and compliance with comprehensive health and background screening protocols. The contract is approximately 13 weeks in length, with a Monday-Friday schedule plus call.
