Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Job Summary
- Assist physicians with interventional neuro, vascular, CT/US guided procedures.
- Preferred experience with EPIC, Siemens single and Bi-plane equipment, and McKesson PACS.
- Must be proficient in scrubbing as first assist to physician, circulating, filming, and charging exams in EPIC.
- Schedule: 4-10 hour shifts, 1 to 2 call shifts per week, 1 weekend every 6 weeks. Typically Monday-Friday with a rotating day off following a call shift.
- Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted.

- 14 weeks
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Kentucky
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience as a Vascular Interventional Technician
- Current BLS certification
- Proficiency in scrubbing as first assist to physician
- Proficiency in circulating
Required Licenses & Certifications
- ARRT(R) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography)
- RTR or RTRVI (Radiologic Technologist in Radiology or Vascular Interventional Radiology)
- Kentucky Radiation Operator's License (must be obtained before start date)
Additional Required Certifications (may be specialty/unit dependent)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required for Labor & Delivery
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification) if applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
- Certified First Assistant (for First Assist RNs)
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- Criminal background check (county, national, sex offender, FACIS III) within 1 year and updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and annually
- HHS/OIG exclusion check within 30 days of start and annually
- Education verification or signed official transcript/diploma
- Employment verification for 7 years
- References: Two references verified within 6 months of start, preferably manager or supervisor who directly supervised candidate
- Skills checklists updated annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for applicable units (including IR) with only two attempts allowed
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 1 year of start
- Color Blind Testing within 1 year of start
- Unit-specific competency exams within 1 year of start and annually
- RN Math Ability Competency Exam annually
Required Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, stating good health and no physical limitations
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific acceptable masks listed)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually
- TB questionnaire annually for positive TB history
- Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with boosters or exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination, renewed annually
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- COVID initial vaccine series or medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not required
Notes
- Candidates must renew all documents set to expire during upcoming assignments prior to clearance.
- Pass/Fail EKG exam is mandatory for IR and other specified units; failure after two attempts results in cancellation.
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this position.
