Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year
  • 1st time travelers are accepted
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Patient Population

  • Adolescents to Geriatrics

Unit and Work Setting

  • Mixed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Intermediate patients
  • Small neuro population
  • Respiratory, cardiac, mixed medical cases
  • Titrating cardiac drips required
  • Telemetry required
  • Assignments may be all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mix depending on patient acuity and staffing
  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (high staffing ratio)
  • Floating within facility required
  • No call requirements
  • Weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Holidays: Expected to work 1-2 major holidays if they fall during assignment

Scheduling

  • No block scheduling
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) max 7 days
  • Holiday coverage includes: New Year’s, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas (with some restrictions)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Systems and Competencies

  • Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
  • Competency exams required: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (3 attempts max)
  • Color Blind Testing required

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 16 weeks = 16 hours orientation)
  • Background checks, education verification, and licensure must be completed prior to start or within 30 days post start as applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or declination
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification required (can be pending with proof running)
