Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbia, South Carolina

Position Details
- Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Shift: Day Shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- On-Call Requirement: Yes
- 1-2 call days per week starting at 5 PM
- 1 call weekend every 5 weeks (Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM; 48 hours total)
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister units/facilities
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Licenses:
- South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (required for all RNs)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (required for MS and ER units)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (AHA/AAP only)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (not required for ER RNs)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (AWHONN or NCC acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER)
- Additional Certification Notes:
- Certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start date
- Facility prefers copies of all certifications held by the traveler

- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency for OR and related units
- Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Local Radius: 60 miles

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include: SSN Trace, County checks outside SC, SC statewide, Sex Offender Registry, National Criminal, FACIS 3
- Background check must be run within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
Education & Licensure Verification
- Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC RN license or compact license
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Copy of diploma or transcripts preferred as placeholder if education verification is pending
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B required
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded
Respirator Clearance
- Annual medical clearance for respirator use required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
Facility Specific Documents & Orientation
- Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start (2-6 hours depending on unit)
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge required
- Completion of facility confidentiality, security, contractor forms, and job description prior to start
- NetID form must be completed within 24-48 hours of contract signing to avoid delays
References & Work History
- Proof of 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- At least one reference from the same unit is required
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers required; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Additional Notes
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down but total no more than 1 shift
- Radiation badge process may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start floor work without badge
- Agency responsible for providing radiation badge and tracking reports
- Block scheduling accommodations require manager approval and depend on unit needs
