Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel Contract
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
- Skills include:
- Adult Outpatient care
- Tumor Localization
- CBCT/kV/mV imaging
- Benign Brain Tumors
- External Beam Therapy
- IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy)
- Prostate Cancer with Seeds/Fiducials
- Respiratory Gating
- Tomo Therapy
- Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
- Pancreatic and Testicular Cancer
- Radiation Safety and Chart Check
- Certifications required:
- ARRT (Therapy)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Preferred certification: ARRT (Radiography)
Job Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Patient ratio: 1:5 during day shifts
- Floating required between two clinical sites within Wilmington area (approx. 30 minutes apart)
- Weekend work only if machine downtime occurs (very rare)
- Storm/Hurricane team participation required; may be called during catastrophic events or disasters
- No orientation or Dimensions training required; can start directly at clinic
- Therapists always paired; no solo work
- Opportunities for 4x10 hour shifts available but not mandatory
Patient Diagnoses
- Breast, Lung, Brain, Extremity, Skin, Electron, Prostate, Gynecologic, Pelvis, Genitourinary, Pancreatic, Esophageal cancers
Equipment & Systems
- Varian Linacs (including TrueBeam)
- Siemens CT Simulator
- Software: Pyxis, ARIA, SBAR
Orientation & Dress Code
- Brief hospital orientation provided; further clinic orientation on site
- Scrubs: Royal Blue (not provided)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background checks within 90 days for all locations lived in last 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree earned specific to profession
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required
- Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season
- TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire required
- State-specific healthcare personnel registry and exclusion list checks within 90 days prior to start
Additional Notes
- Floating between two sites may require variable shift times (some days 9 AM - 6 PM)
- Radiation badge required for Radiation Therapists; badge provided by facility
- Must be prepared to work in a team environment with MD and RN onsite at all times
- Must comply with hospital policies including confidentiality agreements, dress code, and medication safety training
- Candidates must complete required competency exams and certifications as applicable
