Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, assisting with vascular surgery and hybrid imaging cases. Work collaboratively with a team of nurses and surgical techs for both endovascular and open procedures. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for all age groups, ensuring patient safety and comfort.


Schedule & Work Details

  • Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:30 - 17:00)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks
  • Float: As required by facility

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients
  • Experience as Scrub and OR Circulator
  • At least 1 year of Interventional Vascular nursing experience
  • Competent in conscious sedation
  • Trauma experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience

  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Patient Types: Outpatient to critical care inpatient
  • Equipment: Includes DaVinci robotic systems
  • EMR System: EPIC

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong clinical expertise in trauma and OR nursing
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
  • Work in a clean, air-conditioned environment
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling

  • Scrub color: Black
  • Unacceptable attire: Unprofessional clothing, jeans

Additional Information

  • Assist vascular surgeons in OR and hybrid imaging suite
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Adhere to nursing practice standards and facility policies

Notes

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
